🐾 Meet Joe the Dogman – Training Dogs, Teaching Owners
With over 30 years of experience, Joe the Dogman has helped thousands of owners build stronger, more obedient, and happier relationships with their dogs.
Joe’s Story – How He Became the Dogman
🐾 For Joe, training is more than commands—it’s about strengthening the bond between dogs and their owners.
🐶 "Training dogs has always been second nature to me."
Joe’s journey into professional dog training started with Hannah, his Rottweiler. Even as a child, he had a natural ability to connect with dogs, but Hannah challenged him in new ways. While she listened to Joe, she struggled to follow commands from his former wife—leading them to seek expert guidance from Richard Seaman, a master trainer.
Joe quickly became fascinated by dog behavior, communication, and leadership. He wasn’t content just following instructions—he wanted to understand why dogs responded the way they did. Under Seaman’s mentorship, Joe trained in:
🔹 Obedience and behavior modification
🔹 Tracking and scent discrimination
🔹 Protection training
At the time, Joe was a Department of Defense Police Officer, but his passion for training took over. He switched to night shifts so he could spend his days apprenticing under Seaman, training dogs, and working with owners. He studied every book he could find on dog behavior, obedience, and wolf pack dynamics—developing his own training philosophy.
Eventually, Joe stepped away from law enforcement to pursue dog training full-time while raising his sons. He spent the next 30+ years refining his approach, training generations of Cape Cod family dogs, and helping owners build trust, respect, and lasting obedience.
